How to get more comments for your blog – 3 tips

One of the topics that repeatedly return in conversations, chats, #blogchat, e-mail: “How do I get more comments on my posts in my blog?”

This story will show that comments are important for your blog:

Last week I had a call with Ira. After my Facebook webinar she had some burning questions so we scheduled a talk via Skype. We ended up talking more about her blog than about Facebook.

Ira has an issue with her blog and the search engines. Some people that she worked with a few years ago are bashing Ira. Her website is visible in the search engines but the second and third spot in the search engine are posts in a blog by the bashers.

There is actually 1 post and many comments.
Just because there are many comments and people keep adding comments to the post it remains visible and high in the search engines.

Ira is very active on her website, there is a forum and a blog. She posts on her blog regularly but there are almost no comments.

Blog posts in your Facebook page via notes

With the new notes in Facebook you can now blog in your Facebook page fast en easy. If you already have a blog you can also import your blog posts. This way you can add your posts automatically in your Facebook page.

Your notes van be found in the row of tabs, or in the drop down ‘>>’, or you will have to add them via the ‘+’.

Updates from you and others on the wall of your Facebook page

When people look at the Wall on your Facebook page do they see just updates from you?
See this example from Suz’s Posh Pets

If you only show your updates then I am missing interaction on your page.
My tip is do also show the updates of others on the wall of your fan page. This will invite people to ask questions on your wall.
As a visitor I can also klick on ‘Suz’s Posh Pets + others’ myself each time. But to make it easier for your visitors you can make this standard on your page.
