Use your website to get more Likes for your Facebook page [guide]

Like Box on your website

Your website, your blog or even better your online hub (combination of website and blog) gets traffic from the search engines, shares on social network sites and returning visitors.

There are many options to show your Facebook business page on your website in order to get more likes. You can use:

  • the Facebook logo and add the link to your page
  • you can use one of the Facebook buttons
  • you can use Facepile

Like Box on your websiteBut the most engaging version is the Like Box. It has several advantages:

  • The visitor of your website can like your Facebook business page without leaving your website
  • You can choose to show the activity stream – I think it becomes to big when you do
  • It shows the faces of people you know – this will result into a bit of peer pressure

In 2009 I watched SOBCon Chicago for the first time. It was all online and I could not see everything, but @JenChicago made me fall in love with this event. She used the webcam of her laptop and shared the event live via Ustream.

It was that year I said to myself, “Next year I am going to SOBCon.”

Why SOBCon is a different conference

During most events there are presentations where you can sit back and listen to the experts. You get a lot of ideas for your business and how you can implement what the expert is talking about.

By the time you are on your way home you are overwhelmed with ideas and inspiration. The next morning the event is over and business as usual takes over. The inspiration fades away. Nothing changed

Do not use WordPress.com

If you want to blog for your business, and you should, WordPress is a great tool. You can use WordPress to build a blog for your business and for your professional website. However you do not want to use WordPress.com for your business.

I have been using WordPress since 2005 and never looked back. All my websites are built with WordPress and are doing pretty good on traffic via the search engines. Content is part of it and the correct technical structure of the page is another important part.

You have to take care of great content, so take time to write the best content. WordPress will take care of the technical part.

The book: Built to Sell: Turn Your Business Into One You Can Sell (aff)

The tips that I mention in the video:

  1. Specialize
  2. No clients that are more than 15% of your revenue
  3. Pitching a prices that you own, puts you in control
  4. Make the business less dependent on you
  5. Standardize – make products. Customers vs clients
  6. Say no to clients that don not use your standardized process/product
  7. Hire 2 sales people, better than 1. They will compete.
  8. Hire people that are used to sell products
